    and I'd like to know more about that/it.

    I've checked the carfax and it comes out as a well maintained vehicle, but the recall was alarming, and I'd like to know more about that/it.

    I think "it" is better; it's more direct than "that".
    (I would use two sentences, with the second one beginning with 'But'.)

    Because it is a specific subject, I prefer "that".
