    Gapped sentences

Which one word can fit in all three sentences? ( I have no idea about the first but I think "splash" would be a good choice for the latter.)

    Q1:
The official book ........ will be in early March but many advance copies have been distributed already.
The police will ........ an enquiry into the murder.
The Queen is due to ........ the new cruise liner later this month.

    Q2:
We need a big ........ of colour on that wall to stop it looking so dull.
He was quite an extrovert and made quite a ........ in the office on his first day.
Add a ......... of lemon juice to the salad and it's finished.

Besides, I would be much obliged if you would share your ideas about how to deal with these kinds of exercises. It's a bit hard for non-native speakers. They are made up mainly in CPE exam.
    Thank you

    Re: Gapped sentences

You're right about "splash" for Q2. I've been trying to think of a way to help you work out the first one on your own, but have come up lacking. Just for once, I'll just give you the answer - "launch".

It will be good for you memorise "to launch an enquiry", "book launch" and "to launch a ship".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
