Hi,

In an American movie, Darren and his girlfriend were driving back home on a road, and they hit a man. Darren yelled to his girlfriend,"Call for help".

Do native speakers say, "Call 911", "Call ambulance" or "Call police" in such a case?

Thank you!

Call an ambulance or call 911.

In the UK we call 999.

In Aus, we call 000, which made no sense back in the days when we had dialling phones. (Maybe it to stop frivolous calls?) Now pushing a 0 is just as easier as pushing a 9.

I might say "Call for help" if I meant "Please shout out to passing strangers and see if they can come and help us". Otherwise, I'd say "Call an ambulance" and "Call the police".

In the US, if you call 911 for a car accident with injuries, both police and ambulance respond.

Same here. I should have said that I would shout "Call an ambulance" or "Call the police". If the injuries were more relevant than the crash, I'd call the emergency operator and ask for an ambulance. If the crash was more relevant, I'd ask for the police.
