    Words ending with -like

Is there a general rule to write word ending with -like?
    (e.g. hood-like, grass-like, etc.)
    - always use a hyphen
    - some words are written with hyphen while others are not (depending on the word)

    Re: Words ending with -like

    Welcome to the forums, apomin.

There's no general rule. When a '-like' word has been used very often and for a very long time, it finds its way into dictionaries as a standard word without the hyphen. Click here to read most of them (I found that list from one.look.com, a site which everybody should bookmark).

    Re: Words ending with -like

As English exists today, almost anybody can create a word with -like, and it will be understood. Some, as Rover suggested. will take hold; others will not.
