It is a story about the relation between a couple. It says that the husband is always late for the dinner.
Here is an extract from it: "I was running late again for the dinner appointment with my wife... , but to my relief, I had a good excuse: A business meeting had run over and I'd wasted no time getting to the dinner."
What does "run over" mean in this sentence? Be over? But I can't find such a meaning for the phrase in the dictionary. Thanks for help!
