Is it possible to happen an inversion in an indirect question?

I know an inversion occurs in an indirect question like the below.

    1. I wonder why he is angry.

But I found some sentences like 2 and 3 and want to know if it is possible
for a verb to follow a subject in an indirect question.

    2. She found out behind which door stood the tiger, and behind which door waited the lady.

    3. But he could not know behind which door was the lady.

    Thanks.

Note that 2 and 3 are not indirect questions.

It's just inverted word order, chosen for artistic affect. When you start with the adverb phrase, you invert.

Around the rock ran the squirrel.
Up the hill charged the army.
Behind the door stood the tiger.

"Normal" prose would be "She found out which door the tiger stood behind" or "But he could not know which door the lady was behind."

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Where is the inversion in #1? We invert the subject and verb in a real question, not in indirect questions.

Why is he angry? (inverted "is" and "he")

I wonder why he is angry. (no inversion)
