Desperately looking for a term in Industrial Psychology...

    Hi all,

In industrial designing, at times the human-machine interaction is observed maticulously to improve the design of the machine/device. Is there any branch in Psychology referring to this study? I know well this is a terminological term, but I just decided to post it here on the off chance. I hope someone knows the title I'm looking for.

I didn't understand a word of your post but I can tell you that it's "meticulous" and "off-chance".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

I am aware of the term "occupational psychology" which covers this.

    Would this come under ergonomics?

Re: Desperately looking for a term in Industrial Psychology...

The class I took in college was called "Human Factors in Design."

Following this link, it seems that some people call "human factors" and "ergonomics" the same thing.

In my company, we think more about how the human should be acting (stretching, right seat height, adjusting the bench height, etc.) when we talk about ergonomics.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    (Not a Teacher)

Some quick research reveals that ergonomics is a multidisciplinary field, which includes psychology and its relevant subsets (occupational psychology).

Thanks to the terms I've been given here, now I think 'Engineering Psychology' and 'Psychotechnology' are the most relevant areas.
