    Some differences

    Hello there.

Could someone please tell me what are the difference between: «How many coffees have you drunk today» and «How many coffees did you drink today».

    «If I was rude, I apologize» and «If I’ve been rude, I apologize».

    Thanks a lot!

    There's no significant difference.

    Your questions need question marks.

    Re: Some differences

    I am not a teacher.

I agree of course, if coming from someone else.

I would use, "How many coffees have you drunk today?" if I meant "so far" with a possibility of there being more to come, and "How many coffees did you drink today?" if I didn't expect the number to increase.

    Re: Some differences

How much coffee did you drink today?
How many cups of coffee did you drink today?

If I was rude, I apologize.
If I had been rude, I apologize.

There is no appreciable difference in meaning in each pairing.
