I would like to ask about " as much as"

    Hi, teachers !

I would like to ask out the use of 'as much as'.

Can you please see the sentence below?
Is it fine especially 'as much as?

Thanks to careful preservation efforts, the historical building looks as much as it did when it was first constructed over 100 years ago.

If I miss out the first 'as' (like " Thanks to careful preservation efforts, the historical building looks much as it did when it was first constructed over 100 years ago."), it it also fine?

    Thank you ^^

Re: I would like to ask about " as much as"

    I am not a teacher.

The only version that works is the second one without the first "as".
