Hello. I am confused about which to choose 'assure' or 'ensure'.

    Hello.
I am confused about which to choose 'assure' or 'ensure'.
    Please help.

The bread-making machine operates dependably, assuring (or ensuring) that the ingredients for each loaf are combined and well kneaded.

Which one is better, assuring or ensuring? Or, would either be fine?

    Thanks,

    Jay.

Re: Hello. I am confused about which to choose 'assure' or 'ensure'.

I use "to assure" to mean "to make someone else certain of something".

Put the ingredients in the machine, ensuring everything is well mixed.
I put all the ingredients in the machine, assuring my mother that I had mixed everything well (as she had told me to do).
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
