    should

    Hello, everyone

Please tell me if the word "should" is used correctly in the following italic sentence. I'm not quite sure about it. Help me. Thank you.

My name is Daniel. I'm a guide dog. Today was my first time I led Peter to school. Before we went out, he had to put on my harness. That meant I was working, people should stop talking and playing with me.

or "... today was my first time leading Peter to school"
Yes, 'should' is correct, but I would make the two parts of the last sentence more explicit. "That meant I was working and that people should (must) not talk or play with me."
"When I am wearing my harness, I am working and people must not talk or play with me."
