It seems like getting fat
It seems to get fat

Is there any difference between the two?

Thanks

Any context?

If this refers to an animal, the most likely would be "It seems to be getting fat".

It seems to be getting fat".

Thank you Mike. I perfectly understand your sentence but this doesn't help me to understand the other ones.
Are you saying that you don't use such sentences? Sorry I can't make out much contexts as I do not much understand them.
Hope if you can give the contexts and clarify further their meanings.

Thank you

You misunderstand, Joea. They are not proper English sentences, and don't have English meanings. Mike's guess is probably the best we are going to be able to do. Where did you find them, and why do you think they mean something?

Joea, it is you who needs to supply the context. We can only guess.

I am not a teacher.

Let's not forget "the gainers".

These are people who seem to like getting fat.

But would one call them it?

I am not a teacher.

That seems unlikely.

Not usually. It is possible if one did not know the gender, but it is disrespectful in most cases.

That would suggest a level if understanding of cause and effect that seems unlikely in a cat.

I suggest we stop trying to find a context for "It likes getting fat."

If a cat is always eating, it likes to eat. I don't think cats worry about being fat. I don't believe in dry cat food for cats. Many become addicted to carbohydrates and become obese. Then many develop diabetes mellitus. I recommend canned meat/fat based food for cats. That is their natural diet. They eat critters. Who ever saw a cat stalking a corn plant or a clump of broccoli?

That's true and, of course, I'll defer to your knowledge. But my cats like to eat grass occasionally. I haven't actually observed them stalking stalks though!

My cats are quite partial to bamboo leaves. They're chewing on them even as I write.

It is an old wive's tale that cats eat grass to make themselves throw up. They eat grass because it smells good to them. But given a choice between a plate of chicken, or fish, or beef, the grass has to wait in line. ;-)

Maybe. I hope you're not saying that they eat grass because I don't feed them!
