    Agreed, except that those have comma splices.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    I take your point, Barb, but with two short and similar phrases it feels natural enough to me.
    I appreciate that many will disagree.

    I have grown to accept comma splices with two very short and closely related clauses. That said, the semicolon is a simple solution.
