    Please check. "He had given him, title same as his own's".

    "He had given him a title the same as his own"? It would be easier to rephrase a wrong sentence if you mixed the persons around a bit, eg. "He had given her, title same as his own's". -> "He had given her a title the same as his own". Sometimes it avoids confusion, and we talking about fantasy anyway.
