Hi there,
Please give me a verb which I can use with the word "report". For example, I'm watching TV and news reporter on TV. Can I say "he/she is doing the news report"?
Is it correct to use the article "the" before "news" in the above example?

Yes, you can use your sentence, and the article is needed there.

It is also common to hear "He is doing the weather report."

I am not a teacher.

In BrE we often use 'newsreader' and 'the weather man', or should that now be the weather person?

Meteorologist would be better.

I am not a teacher.

In France, where I live, it is very common for the person presenting the weather forcast to use that as a means to build a television career.

They then go on to host a game show here, some light entertainment there, and so on. Knowing anything about meteorology is really quite unnecessary. That is left to Météo France.

Once upon a time in America, they had "weather girls" on TV. They simply repeated their lines, but they were nice to look at. Nowadays, we typically have a real meteorologist on the TV news and use empty headed teleprompter readers as politicians.

IMO, it would be more natural to use "report" as the verb. "He is reporting the news."

Even our little station in Portland, Maine, had a PhD meteorologist.

*Unrelated* Funny how you need to prove, for instance, language knowledge to become a waiter at a restaurant (in Spain, in most places), but not if you want to run for President/mayor/congressman (in Spain, so far).
