    more information or much information

    Hi Teachers,

May I know for "information", do we use "more information" or "much information"?

If both are correct, why "more" and "much" are accepted?

So "information" is countable or uncountable noun?

    Please advise.

    Thank you.

Please click on Edit Post and make corrections to your post (then click Save). It is important to follow the rules of written English:

    - Start every sentence with a capital letter.
    - End every sentence with a single, appropriate punctuation mark.
    - Always capitalise the word "I" (first person singular).
    - Do not put a space before a comma, full stop, question mark or exclamation mark.
    - Always put a space after a comma, full stop, question mark or exclamation mark.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Yes, we do.

I don't have much information on that subject.
I'd like to get more information.
I do have a lot of information on that.

What we do NOT say is "many information."
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Re: more information or much information

    Hi Teachers,

Since both "more information" or "much information" are correct, so "information" is countable or uncountable noun?

    Please advise.

    Thank you.

    Uncountable.
Much more information about the usage of 'information' is available in online dictionaries.

Re: more information or much information

It seems like you're completely confused.
You can use "much" only with uncountable nouns and "many" only with countable nouns. The word "more" you can use with both.

We don't have much information about the accident.
Can you give a little bit more information?
    We don't have many pancakes.
I have more pancakes than you.

    Not a teacher.
Please, correct all my mistakes. I should know English perfectly and if you show me my mistakes I will achieve my dream a little bit faster. A lot of thanks.

Not a teacher nor a native speaker.

'Many pieces of information' should be grammatical, though.
