    would have wanted??

    Hello,

I am stuck at this sentence. I feel like there is something wrong with this sentence. Can someone tell me what I did wrong here? Or rephrase the sentence.

"Now I almost would have wanted that Ella had ended up alone, and had become an activist"

the underlined part is where I am stuck, the past, present ect. is all very confusing.

Welcome to the forums, englishlearner101. I'm afraid it's not clear what you are trying to say. Can you rephrase it?

    Re: would have wanted??

Hi, thank you for welcoming me. The sentence is part of a book review, and I am trying to say what I almost would have liked to have happened at the end of the book. If that makes any sense?

    Re: would have wanted??

You could say "I almost wish Ella had ended up alone and had become an activist".

That's OK as long as, at the end of the book, Ella is not alone and she is not an activist.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
