I have read that verbs such as "have" cannot be used in progressive form. However, how to write the following sentence without using the verb in progressive.

I am glad you are having a nice time. (To mean that he is enjoying now)

Is it fine to say "I am glad you have a nice time."? (However, this also may mean he enjoys generally and not just now ).

Welcome to the forum.

You have been misinformed. There is nothing wrong with 'I am glad you are having a nice time'.

We generally don't use it in the progressive form when it means own/possess. When it is an action verb or an auxiliary verb, we can and do use the progressive form.
