Hi teachers,

...and ambitious for attaining material beings and try to negate...

What does "material beings" mean, please?
Shouldn't it be "trying to"?

Thanks

None of that phrase makes sense. Sorry. Can you give us the whole sentence, not just that fragment?

Thanks!

That fragment still makes no sense. You still haven't posted a full sentence (it ends "the very odd fact of ...").

"Ambiguous" and "ambitious" are strange bedfellows at the start of it. "Material beings" doesn't make sense.

Again, please post the entire sentence and quote your source (the author and the article/book).

This is because we are overly ambiguous and ambitious for attaining material beings and try to negate the very odd fact of "balance attitude in life". We are malignant in our self consciousness and callous to our nature.

One of my friends wrote it. I couldn't understand this part. He is not a native speaker. He makes many mistakes. He just practises writing.

I'm afraid it doesn't make sense at all.

We are overly ambitious and selfish in obtaining the materials while negating the true fact of of "balance attitude in life". Does it make sense?

No. That's no clearer than the original. You will have to ask your friend what they were talking about.

I asked him to tell me in Urdu and he did. I translated it very carefully so that you could understand my bad English.
"We prefer egoism and avoid being modest." I think he used "material" to mean something like: we run after money, possessions etc. but unfortunately, he used it in the wrong way. If my translation is OK, please edit the original one. Thank you
