How do I ask my boss permission

Hi, I am not English. My boss speaks English. I have to visit somewhere for 2 days. How do I ask my boss permission for that?In another situation there is a problem that I must solve. My boss is asking how to. Problem can be solved at organization "A" (hypothetical). There are people that I know who work there. I must tell my boss that I will solve the problem with their help. What are these people called in English? My dictionary is giving the words "acquaintant" and "insider". Is it correct to use them. Please note: They are not my friends neither relatives
