Can someone tell me which sentence of the following is correct?

A.) I have no idea why am I writing this post about thanking someone.
B.) I have no idea why I am writing this post about thanking someone.

I think sentence B is the correct one.

Not a teacher but as far as I know there is no subject-auxiliary inversion in indirect questions (and these are such examples), apart from African American English and some other varieties of English.

So in standard English B would be considered correct.

Kitty, please read this extract from the Forum Rules:

Lim Choon Yen, your question has also been answered here.

We recommend posting a question on one forum only initially. If you do not get a satisfactory answer from that forum and you feel that you have exhausted its possibilities, then of course trying a different forum might help. It is only courteous however, to tell the second forum that you have already asked the question on another forum and then give a precis of the answers you received there, along with an explanation of why you are now looking elsewhere.
