    party killer

Hello! Is it possible to say the following sentence to mean that my parents spoil my fun?

    My parents are party killers.

I am aware that it is not very polite, I am just wondering whether it is grammatical or not to say that.

    Re: party killer

    I am not a teacher.

'Party killers' is not ungrammatical. The normal phrase is 'party poopers'.

    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

    Hello, Crowned:

Besides Roman's excellent answer, you may wish to know another term: wet blanket.

Mona: Shall we invite James to Saturday's party?

    George: No way!

    Mona: Why not?

George: You know how he is at parties: he just sits there, he won't dance, he usually doesn't like the music, he seldom laughs, he never tells jokes, and he constantly glances at his watch to see what time it is so that he can leave.

Mona: I guess that you're right. James is, indeed, a wet blanket. If some of our friends discover that he is coming, they won't come.

    James
