My cat takes its place is by my side.

Is the sentence My cat takes its placeis (a typo) by my side possible in some context? (For example if I describe what regularly happens in the evening when I get back from work.)

If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

No, you have too many verbs. "My cat takes its place by my side."; "The cat's place is by my side." But not both 'takes' and 'is'.
'Its' should preferably be 'his' or 'her'.

Yes, thank you, I just meant "My cat takes its place by my side." (I wrote it was a typo in the initial post)
