Hi,

It is/has been about three hours I have waited.
It is/has been about three hours I have been waiting.

I am not sure about the tense due to not using often. Which one of both sentences is actually correct?

Thanks.

Cannot comment on your examples as they appear unnatural to me.
However, I would suggest you use

1. It's been about 3 hours since I came
or
2. I have been waiting for about 3 hours

Note: 'it's been' is a contraction for 'it has been' NOT 'it is been'

Just for my curiosity, where did you get these examples from?

Yes you can. In this case 'about' just expresses your uncertainty that you have been waiting for exactly 3 hours.

Oh! I just did it my self. Thanks for pointing up that they are unnatural. You wrote "It's been about 3 hours since I came", is it wrong it if I write like this "It's been about 3 hours since I have come". I am just not sure about the tense.

Another question is; Your sentence is "It has been about 3 hours since I came", and It can also be written as "It is been about 3 hours since I came", right? I am quite sure about that. But I just don't remember whether it is AmE or BrE variety.

1. I think that you cannot. I recommend you check it with teachers.
2. No. Read my previous comment more carefully.

Alex, in your post#6, doesn't careful modify a noun? Why did you not choose carefully since it modifies a verb, please?

Hello, UM Chakma.:-D
1. I would say either 'It is (=It's) about three hours since I came' or 'It has (=It's) been about three hours since I came'. I've heard 'since + the present perfect' used, but I'm not sure if it's standard English.
2. 'It is been [...]' is not correct. I agree with Alex about this.

Sorry, my mistake. I actually meant "It is three hours since I came" not "It is been three hours since I came" :-D

It is three hours since I got here.
It has been three hours since I got here.

I've been waiting for three hours.

1. It is three hours since I got here.
2. It has been three hours since I got here.

Do you sense any difference in meaning between #1 and #2?
I think we can use simple present tense because it is a fact. Is that right?

I find no difference between those two at all.
