problem with the meaning of a dialog in "noah" movie

Hi,i am Ali from iran and my first language is Persian,i work as a movie subtitle translator and recently faced a problem understanding the exact meaning of a quote in "Noah" movie
There is a dialog which is mentioned in the movie several times:
"God made adam in his image".
My problem is with the exact meaning of the word "image" and also the meaning of the whole sentence.
Does it simply mean than god imagined us in his imagination/conception?
Or the movie wants to say that god made us "of his own spirit"?
The second idea came to my mind because we religiously belive that god made human from his own spirit, but the important thing for me,is to know what movie is going to tell us,apart from my personal/religious views.
    Thanks

Re: problem with the meaning of a dialog in "noah" movie

Gen 1:27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
It's not just movie dialog. It's from the Bible.

Exactly what it means for man to be made in God's "image" is a question for religion or philosophy, not for language.

It does not mean that God imagined us. That is a different word. To be someone's "image" is to mean that there are similarities or semblances between the two things.

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/image?s=t

See definition 5 here. It even uses this very phrase as its example.
