Hi teachers,

I want to use the word "division" in a sentence.

Suppose someone is dividing something or has divided. In this case, is "Your division is not fair" correct?

Thanks.

If someone had been given the job of dividing a set of tasks between a group of people, I can see it working.

Boss - John, there are six tasks to do. Please share them out between these four people.
John - OK, I think Jane should do the first three, Paul should do one, Peter should do another one and Dave should do the last one.
Jane - Your division isn't fair. Why am I doing three of the tasks but everyone else has just one each?
John - Of course, you're right. I'm an idiot! I'll have a rethink.

This can also come up with dividing food. There is one piece of pizza left. One kid offers to divide it, but cuts it into 2/3 and 1/3 and claims the bigger piece. The second kid says "That's not fair".

What I see as much more likely (rather than her saying the division isn't fair) is Jane saying: "That's not fair! I have more work than they do."

But maybe I'm too picky.

I don't think it's too picky- your division doesn't strike me as very natural either.
