    Maximize the chances of.........

    Do you think that this is a natural expression or somehow awkward in English? Both in relating to "maximize the chances..." and "the chances of..." (the chances to???).

    It sounds wonky. Try:

    - increase the chances of...
    - improve the chances of...

    I see nothing wrong with it at first glance.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    An example would be: I have been studying hard to maximize the chances of getting hired by that company. I am concerned just about "maximize" and "chances of/to". Thanks.

    I like your sentence, but I would use "my" instead of "the". There is nothing wrong with "maximize".
