    A reperating action

One of the uses of the present continuous is for repeating actions at present moment or around now. E.g. Why is he hitting the dog? I am travelling a lot these days. (the examples are from Michael Swan's Grammar) I am trying hard to think of a few other examples of these "repeating actions" but the only sentence which comes to my mind is "Why is this girl jumping?"))

Could you help me with a couple of other examples?
If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

    Re: A reperating action

    How about:

She is talking continuously, and she never pauses to take a breath.

    Re: A reperating action

Are you sure it's a series of actions? Maybe she is really talking non-stop? Anyway, yours is a very good example of another use of the present continuous I am looking for - expressing irritation at somebody's actions, so I'm taking it (or I'll take it?).

    Re: A reperating action

Funny. Looks like what I need, too. Though the "actions" may be a little bit too short.

I know some native speakers who never do shut up.
