Japan's Sakari Momoi confirmed as oldest living man, aged 111 years, 196 days By KE

Guinness World Records can today confirm that Japan’s Sakari Momoi is the world’s oldest living man at 111 years, and, as of today, 196 days old.

    Hi all,

Can somebody explain me the bold part? I can't get it's meaning.

On the day the Guinness Book of Records confirmed his age, he was 111 years and 196 days old. When you get to his age, every extra day is important. The day after that story he would have been 111 years and 197 days old.

It could have been written "... at 111 years and, at the moment/right now, 196 days old".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
