Hello. Could you explain to me the difference of these sentences:
1.I'm going to meet him on Friday.
2.I'm meeting him on Friday.
3.I'm to meet him on Friday.
4.I'm suppose to meet him on Friday.
5.I will be meeting him on Friday.
May the third and fourth sentences be in modal mean (like must, have to, should)?
In russians teach books last two sentenses describes like modal verbs.
As far as I know BE TO + Infinitive is not often use in colloquial speech whith relatives and friends. It may be use in work, in newspaper, in poltics as report, official agreements or official speech. Am I right?
And supposed to = should be done, allowed action.
Thanks a lot
