    Pronunciation of "the" & "end"

I think my teacher told me to pronounce "the" /i/ with a consonant and /i:/ with a vowel.

Is the "th" always pronounced the same?

Also, I think she told me not to pronounce the "d" in "end".

    Did I understand her right?

    Thanks for your help!

Re: Pronunciation of "the" & "end"

    I am not a teacher.

As far as I'm concerned 'the' is ə before a consonant, ɪ before a vowel and iː when stressed.

The 'th' is always the same.

I think it is bad advice to tell you not to pronounce the 'd' in 'end'.

Is your English teacher a native speaker? If so, where is she from?

Yes. You should always pronounce the d in end.
