    make it or be

Can anyone tell me if both of my sentence are coorect?

A.) For the essay, do not make it less than 1800 words.
B.) For the essay, do not be less than 1800 words.

I think A is more proper.

    Re: make it or be

    A) is possible; B) is wrong.

I'd say 'Write an essay of at least 1,800 words'.
