    Does or Do in Question form?

    Does Johnny and Amy have that toy?
    Do Johnny and Amy have that toy?

    Which one is correct?

    The word "do" is like "to be" in that it pretty much insists on being different from the rest of the verbs. Thus:

    I do like ice cream.
    Eva does like ice cream.
    They do tend to be late a lot.
    Does Johnny like to share his toys?
    Do Johnny and Amy get along well with each other?

    So what do you think is the answer to your question?

    May I share something that will make it easier for you to answer Tarheel's question?

    When you analyze a question, mentally put the words in regular order (subject + verb + object).

    So you have:

    "Johnny and Amy ____ have that toy?" (Johnny and Amy are "they.")

    I am sure that you now know the answer.
