    Question 'Life' or 'the life'???

Is life with or without the definite article when: "He is thinking about (the) life". And why?

No article there. It is because "life" refers to life in general.

It could work if it went on to say about the life of xxx, which would make it specific

    Re: 'Life' or 'the life'???

It could work if it went on to say something like "She was thinking about the life she would have had if she had moved to Australia". As with Tdol's example, that refers to a specific life.

Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
