Write down the word you missed on the test 3 times at home...(?)

I wonder how you say when you give your students homework of writing down the words they missed in a vocab test.

    1. Write down the words you missed on the test 3times at home.

    2. You must write 3 times the wrong word in the word test at home.

Will it be okay if I say like sentence 1 or 2?

We do that in Japan, too.
I'm also interested in your query.

'Write the words you got wrong on the test three times each at home.'

I'm not sure what good that's going to do. The words need to be written in the context of a complete sentence.

    I wholeheartedly agree with you.
We tend to give students this kind of homework just to help them to learn correct spelling rather than usage.

In my opinion, it would be better to require students to write the words in complete sentences. They will be more likely to remember them and their usages.

Yes, I completely agree with you- I often do that too.

When I was in elementary school, the "wiseguys" used to write sentences like:

I just wrote a sentence with "controversy" in it.
"Controversy" begins with the letter "C".
The word "controversy" has eleven letters.

Those sentences, of course, resulted in a demand for three more sentences for each. Eventually, they learned.
