I have the subversion to flying and the ocean.

The line in the title is from an English-dubbed anime series. I'm pretty sure the voice actor is an American. In fact, most voice actors are native speakers.
However, according to Longman, 'subversion' = 'secret activities that are intended to damage or destroy the power or influence of a government or established system' http://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/subversion
How does that word even fit in the sentence?
    Thanks a lot.

It's wrong. In fact the whole sentence is meaningless.

    Hello, Khanhhung:

I was just wondering: maybe you heard "I have an aversion to flying and the ocean."

You're right. The sentence should have been: "I have the/an aversion to flying and the ocean."
The voice actor must have pronounced an unnecessary /s/ sound.
This is the link to the episode http://www.animetoon.tv/nodame-cantabile-episode-25
    It occurs at about 3:30
    Thanks again.

Trying to make sense of it. The speaker might have meant to say:

I have an aversion to flying, especially over the ocean.

I agree, but that is safer than flying over large land masses, from a crash standpoint.

Oh, no. His plane once underwent a crash-landing, and he also almost drowned once. Hence, he has a phobia about both airplanes and the ocean.

Re: I have the subversion to flying and the ocean.

The operative words are "almost drowned".

By the way, does "underwent a crash-landing" sound natural, or is it acceptable, besides "crash-landed"?
