Novak Djokovic, has been beaten in the semi-finals by the tenth seed, Kei Nishikori, from Japan.

Novak Djokovic, has been beaten in the semi-finals by the ten seed, Kei Nishikori, from Japan.

The above was from BBC radio, and I am not sure about the underlined part. Is it "tenth" or "ten"? It sounds like "ten". But I think it should be No. ten seed. So, the tenth seed is right.

Am I right?

In the US, we'd say "tenth seed."
The comma after Djokovic is wrong and the comma after "Nishikori" doesn't really belong either.

We call a tennis player the tenth seed or (more commonly, I think) the number ten seed.
