    Sentence correction

    Hi All,

I am not a native English speaker. But I can understand read and write English well for a non native English speaker.

I have come across a bunch of funny sentences. Some I understood the humor and some I did not.
Here are a few puzzling things. Can you help me fix these sentences.

I am interested in learning the language to help my kid with SAT preparation.

    1) At the pancake booth there will be men flipping flapjacks and colorfully costumed waitresses.

I understand the humor in the above sentence. Can you please help me correct the sentence.
I was thinking that it should probably be: At the pancake booth there will be men and colorfully costumed waitresses flipping flapjacks.

    2) here is another sentence:

split and warmed and decorated with cheese, you will be the envy of your guests.

can you please let me know how the phrase "envy of your guests" be used. Should it be the food or the person?
Also can you help me fix the sentence.

    3) the outfielder caught the ball just as his head hit the wall; it dropped to the ground and he picked it up and threw it to third.

I do not know much about baseball. i understand that it should like the person fell down instead of the ball in the sentence.

Please forgive any typos. If anything is not as per forum rules, please let me know. I will remove my post.
I do not intend to break any copy rights or rules. I just want to learn the English language.

    Re: Sentence correction

    Welcome to the forum, star01.

    1) 'At the pancake booth there will be men flipping flapjacks, with colorfully-costumed waitresses serving them.'

    2) 'Your guests will envy you'. The sentence cannot be fixed as we don't know what it is that is 'split and warmed etc.'

    3) It sounds like his head dropped to the ground and he picked it up and threw it.

    '
Just as his head hit the wall, the outfielder almost caught the ball; it dropped to the ground and he picked it up and threw it to third.'

    Re: Sentence correction

    Thank you Rover_KE.

Does this sentence look okay. I kind of modified the second sentence by adding what some food that can be served.

When you serve biscuits split and warmed and decorated with cheese, your guests will envy you.

    Re: Sentence correction

It doesn't sound natural. Why would they envy you?

    Re: Sentence correction

It probably means "envy your culinary skills".
