The words used in the sentence are exactly the same/ same.

1.The words used in the sentence are exactly the same.

    2. The words used in the sentence are exactly same.

I saw the first sentence in a book and wonder if sentence 2 is also grammatical.

    Hello, wotcha.
I'm afraid #2 is not grammatical.
However, there are some cases where 'the' is dropped:
    'Same to you!'
    'Same here!'

They are fixed expressions, which are often found in informal spoken English.
