Thumbs down Why present simple not continuous

I was watching a tv show named "Dangerous encounters with rhinos with english subtitle on net geo tv " here I notice that while experimenting the rhinos under cover, then the man come out of cover and said, 'My legs does not even work' (here the man who is experimenting the rhinos). So my question is that why the man uses "My legs does not even work" not "my legs are not even working" ?

Re: Why present simple not continuous

My guess is that the title was actually "Dangerous Encounters With Rhinos" and it was noted elsewhere that there were English subtitles. (I would consider any encounter with a rhino dangerous.) Also, I could be wrong, but I think you misheard the man and what he actually said was: "My legs do not even work." (He had probably been in the same position for too long.)

(Please note that they were experimenting with rhinos.)

Why do you think the present simple is incorrect?

Because Present simple is used for 1. permanent situations 2. habitual events and present continuous is for 1. temporary situations 2. at the moment of speaking
