    a computer for ten years

1-I have had a computer for ten years.

    Is this sentence not ambiguous?

I don't think we can tell if it was the same one or not. (Consider the case where it is followed by something like: "It is the first time I don't have a computer.")

    I think
2-I have had computers for ten years.

is ambiguous as well. We can't tell if I ever had more than one computer at a time.

    Am I correct?

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

We can't, but the person would be more likely to say this computer if they meant one- it's quite an age for a computer and if the person wanted to say that, they would probably make it clearer.
