    Red face my only wish...

Which one is correct if I want to express my sorrow over the fact that my wife is away now? I really miss her.
    1. My only wish is that you were beside me.
    OR
    2. My only wish is that you are beside me.
    OR
    3. My only wish is that you could be beside me.

    Re: my only wish...

    Hello Eng, welcome to UsingEnglish!

    You can say:

    1. My only wish is that you were here beside me now.

    3. My only wish is that you could be here beside me now.

(You can leave out the "now", if you prefer.)

    But #2 would be incorrect.

    Bye
    MrP
