    Your having picked a lot of mushrooms / (the fact) that you picked a lot of mushrooms

    Hello again!

    Does "Your having picked a lot of mushrooms last year does not mean that you will bring as many home this year" mean the same as "The fact that you picked a lot of mushrooms last year does not mean that you will bring as many home this year"?

    Yes, though the second is more natural in today's AmE.

    I prefer the first. For me, "the fact that" is mostly useless filler and irrelevant.

    Just because you picked a lot of mushrooms last year doesn't mean you will bring as many home this year.
