Phonetic symbol in 'dog' (American English)

Please explain to me a phonetic symbol which I came across in Longman Dictionary in the section which describes the phonetic symbols. I tried to attach this section to this letter. The example of this symbol is the word 'dog' (US). I cannot copy it directly in this letter. Thank you.
