Why doesn't this sentence make(s) sense?

Recently I went to Ireland with my mom and my host-family from Texas and south France/ Côte d'Azur with my parents.

    1. You said you went to Ireland with your mom and your parents(mom and dad?)?
    2. It is confusing who is from Texas and who is from South France.

The sentence is ambiguous. It would be better if you placed a second "to" before "south".

Recently I went to Ireland with my mom and my host-family from Texas and to south France/ Côte d'Azur with my parents.

    I'm trying to say -

Recently I went to Ireland with my mom and my host-family from Texas. And with my parents to South France/Côte d'Azur.

    Is this better?

The first is much better. In the second, the fragment beginning with "and with my parents" is not a sentence.
