    question about using "what a" & "how a" thanks

    Hi, thank you first.

    Can I say --

    1. What a very intimidating word did you say to Tom?

    2. What very intimidating word did you say to Tom?

    also

    3. How very professional a driver are you ?

    4. How very professional are you in handcraft ?


    all of them correct ? thank you very much.

    Yes.

    also

    No. If you omit "very" it is natural. But do not leave a space before the question mark.

    4. How very professional are you in handcraft ?

    Again, no "very" and no space before the query. I prefer "in making handicrafts"to "in handicraft".

    3 is OK as a statement, but not as a question:
    "How very gracious a host Mary is!"
    "How gracious a host is she?"
    "She's a very gracious host."
