Titanic is less the true story ...

"Titanic is less the true story of the ill-fated ocean liner Titanic than a 194-minute romantic story."
I've got this title from an ad.
I don't know the meaning of 'less the true,' will you help?
    Thanks,

It is less _____ than _____.

"Less the true" is not the way to group the words.

It is less "the true story of the ill-fated ocean liner" and more a "romantic story."

Re: Titanic is less the true story ...

It's more a romantic story than the truth about what happened to the ship.
