Quality of washing surfaces is affected ..... as the temperature is raised

    Hello everybody!

The following is en extract from the instruction for using Roklin K 14. It is a compound used for removing stubborn, industrial contamination.

    Inspection of the washing bath

Depletion of the bath occurs as a result of it being saturated with impurities, most of all, oil. Quality of washing surfaces is affected by both the washing time and activity of the bath, which rises as the temperature is raised. High content of suspension and sediments and appearance of oily “stains” show that the bath is being exhausted. One should then raise the temperature of the washing process or replace the bath with new.

Could you tell me if the bolded sentence in italics is properly formulated, paying special attention to the phrase "which rises as the temperature is raised"? By using "as" in "which rises as the temperature is raised", I meant to say "which rises while/when the temperature is raised".

    Thank you.

Re: Quality of washing surfaces is affected ..... as the temperature is raised

The writer should have said "The quality of washing ... " and omitted "surfaces."

I would say "which rises as the temperature increases" or even better "which increases with temperature". The idea, as you probably know, is that if the bath is not cleaning effectively you have only two choices: increase the temperature of the bath or replace the bath solution with new solvents.

The quality of washing is affected by both the washing time and activity of the bath, which rises as the temperature is raised.

I think it is better to say the quality of washing improves/becomes better.

Do you call it a washing bath or washing tub/compartment?

Note that the preceding and following sentences are not correct either.

What do you mean by 'depletion of the bath' and 'the bath is being exhausted'?

This looks like an extract from an operation manual of a washing machine. The language used should be clear and precise.
