Past continuous / kept doing / past simple?

Do all the three sentences mean the same? If not, what's the difference? Do they all sound natural?

I didn't like our maths lesson yesterday. Andrew ...... and the teacher never told him to stop.

    1. Andrew kept laughing the whole lesson.
    2. Andrew laughed the whole lesson.
    3. Andrew was laughing the whole lesson.
If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

The difference is the emphasis placed on the laughter. The first and third place greater emphasis for me on how long the person laughed.

And is the following sentence possible (to place emphasis on how long the action lasted as in sentence 3)?
I was looking for my glasses the whole evening yesterday.
