Picture - how to describe a damage

    Hi,

Please help me to find the best way to describe the damage as shown in the picture attached below.
One of the first thoughts that came to my mind was, "One end of the handle was off".

One end of the handle came off/broke off.

Note that we don't say "a damage."

If I say that one handle came off/broke off, wouldn't it sound like I had something to do with it?

Did you mean I should use "the damage"?

No. If you said "I broke the handle off," it would.

If you really want to escape any blame, then say that the handle was found to be broken off on one end.

Your thread title should either be "how to describe the damage" or "how to describe damage."
